Top 5 World Problems

These are the top world problems in my opinion by level of importance.

1. Terrorism.  Between all the different names, organizations or movements, they are all the same. ISIS. Jihadists. Islamic terrorists. These people are killing innocent people like civilians and people that fight for our country and other countries around the world. We need to send in troops and push them back from infiltrating any more countries and defeat them.

2. Sex Trafficking. Sex trafficking occurs around the world and even in our own backyard. Statistics show that 4.5 million individuals are trapped globally. It's imperative to find the people in charge of their rings and shut down their business.

3. Starvation. There are many places around the world where people are dying of malnutrition and starvation. Currently in Syria, there are refugee camps that are housing citizens who fleed from the country. However, some of these camps have now ran out of food, and water. The people are slowly wasting away and they can't leave the camps to find food or they risk desertion. We need to help Syria in supplying them with food. We can send in care packages full of nonperishables that can last for weeks even months, as long as its enough for the amount of people that are in the camps.

4. Obesity. This is a huge epidemic that is often overlooked by the world. The prevalence of obesity has more than doubled since the 1980's. It often leads to high blood pressure, diabetes, and life threatening issues like heart disease. Without proper care, obesity can most certainly lead to death. However, we can prevent the widespread plague of obesity around the world. We can cut the production of unhealthy foods that lack nutrition and are sold very cheap to compensate for it's fatty content. We can input taxes on things like sodas and candies that lack any sort of benefit to our wellbeing.

5. Climate Change. This past year in 2015, was the earth's warmest year yet. The average temperature was 1.6 degrees above what it should normally, and that was the largest margin recorded in history according to the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). This was due to a regular rotation of the el Nino and an increase in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere due to gas emissions. One potential solution is to reduce the amount of gas emissions in order to prevent it form getting any worse. Investing in newer technology that is environmentally smart like solar panels or hybrid cars can reduce emissions.

  1. Gabrielle,
I enjoyed reading your post. I especially am glad to see terrorist! That is actually one of mine that I choose to do so that is pretty cool that we have that in common. I also certainly agree with your #4 obesity. It is very scary to me to see us American as obese as we are. Certainly I am not one to judge at all. I was raised in the south where I do think every single dish had at the very least one stick of butter. I partly blame my upbringing why I hit obesity at my all time high of 256! However, luckily I decided when I got to college that I needed to change and this wasn’t normal. That being overweight was my problem and no one elses. It took a lot of time and dedication. I’m actually still working down to my target weight of 130’s but I’m very happy where I am now especially at an 86lbs lose. I know for certain that I certainly have what it takes and I won’t loose track of my goal. Of course my wedding in September isn’t a pressure either (insert nervous laugh) Ps. I always said I would walk down the aisle in my mom’s size 4 dress! I’m so close!! Anyway, Thank you for your post and the encouragement boost! 2. Hey Gabrielle!
I thought your post was very interesting, well done. One big problem that we had in common was number one, terrorism. The killing of innocent people around the world is the scariest and most heartbreaking thought. Also, I found it super intriguing that you put starvation and obesity right after one another. They are the complete opposites of each other but both greatly affect our country and developing countries.
